An early-morning bomb threat on Monday caused officials to reroute an Air India aircraft from Mumbai, which was transporting 239 people to the nation's capital, New York.

After a comprehensive search in accordance with established security procedures, no suspicious items were discovered within the aircraft, according to the police.


"Flight AI 119 operating from Mumbai to JFK on October 14 received a specific security alert and on instructions of the government's security regulatory committee, (it) was diverted to Delhi," the statement stated.

It wrote, "Our staff members are making every effort to minimize the disturbance this unplanned event has caused to our visitors.

After disembarking, all 258 passengers aboard the plane are going through security checks. The passengers will be sent to hotels when the security procedures are finished, it continued.

The aircraft carried 19 crew members in addition to 239 passengers.
According to the airline, the flight has been rescheduled, and it will now leave Delhi for New York early on Tuesday.
A senior police official stated, "The aircraft was thoroughly checked at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, and all standard safety protocols were diligently followed to ensure the safety of the passengers and the crew on board." Nothing odd was discovered during the inspection process, the officer added.

The police stated that the handle is being checked after receiving the bomb threat via a post on the microblogging site X.

Murlidhar Mohol, the minister of state for civil aviation, went to the airport in Delhi to assess the situation.

"After arriving in Delhi some time ago, I assessed the situation at the airport with reference to the diversion and emergency landing of aircraft AI 119, which was carrying 239 passengers.

"While the due security checks & safety protocols are being diligently followed, directed the airport officials & the Air India staff to arrange all the necessary assistance as well as convenient accommodation for the passengers affected," he wrote on X at 1 4:00 p.m.In addition to the Air India aircraft, two IndiGo planes that took out from Mumbai on Monday were threatened with bombs. There were two IndiGo flights, one going to Kuwait and the other to Muscat. The planes in question were taken to isolation bays for security inspections after the threats were communicated to the IndiGo flights prior to takeoff.
